Emmaus Wambrechies also organizes Solidarity workcamps
Its been 3 years since Emmaus Wambrechies organises solidarity workcamps with the NGO Service Civil International (SCI).
This partnership started with the meeting of the community’s supervisor and the NGO’s manager.
Every year since then, the community organizes a Solidarity workcamps to support its activity.
Two sessions a year are organized, the first one in July and the other one in August.
For each session, 9 persons from all over the world are welcomed, led by a group leader from the SCI.
All together, they work on a Solidarity project in the community. Also, outings and visits are organized to allow the group’s members to discover the region.
To Valéry Dumoulin, the community’s supervisor, solidarity workcamps are « very positive, It helps opening the community, it also allows companions to meet new people but also to have news from their home country. Also, it allows to create a world wide network, that sometimes lead to new international Solidarity projects.
