  • Do I bear travel expenses ? Afficher la réponse

    Yes, you do. Emmaüs won’t pay any travel expenses.

  • How to reach the Emmaus organization after arriving in France ? Afficher la réponse

    To know the address of the Emmaüs structure in which you’ll be accommodated, please check the e-mail sent to you. If you don’t know how to go, please get in touch with the Emmaüs structure.

  • How to get in touch with the person who will accommodate me ? Afficher la réponse

• 2Practical details

  • Where will I sleep ? Afficher la réponse

    You’ll be accommodated in a colective room, in a tent or a mobil-home. To know the accomodation proposed by each group, please visit the map.

  • What will I eat ? Afficher la réponse

    You’ll eat the meals prepared by the cook with the other participants of the Emmaüs Community. Vegetarian, vegan, halal or kosher meals are not provided.

  • What do I need to bring ? Afficher la réponse

    We recommend you to bring a sleeping bag, your driving licence and comfortable shoes.

  • What are the working hours ? Afficher la réponse

  • What can I do when a solidarity workcamp does not provide accomodation ? Afficher la réponse

    Solidarity workcamps without accomodation are more adequate for young volunteers living nearby or who have the possibility to be housed close to the workcamp.

    The registrations process starts in May. You will have until the end of the summer to registrer yourself.  But we advice you to registrer as soon as possible.

  • I didn’t receive the e-mail to confirm the registration. What should I do ? Afficher la réponse

  • I’m not yet in possession of my passport, can I register ? Afficher la réponse

    Yes, you can. However, you will have to send you passport number, its expiration date and the place where you had it in order to confirm your registration.

  • What should I do to come in France ? Afficher la réponse

  • I’m not 18 years old yet, can I register ? Afficher la réponse

    On the first day of the Solidarity workcamp, you must be over the french age of majority (18 years old) to participate.

  • Do I have to pay to register ? Afficher la réponse

    No, you don’t have to. The registration is free. The Emmaüs structure to which you’ll go will also provide you accomodation and meals. You’ll only have to bear the travel expenses.

  • Can I participate with my friends ? Afficher la réponse

    To participate to a solidarity workcamp with your friends, they will have to choose the same workcamp as you while registering on the plateform Emmaüs experience.
    You could all precise eachothers names and email adresses with your “motivations” on the form.
    Solidarity workcamps are also a collective experience where you’ll meet new friends ! Sometimes, it is even easier to come on your own.

  • Can I participate even if I don’t speak French ? Afficher la réponse

    Yes, you can. However, people who will accomodate you may not speak another language than French.

  • Is there any age limit to take parti in the solidarity workcamps ? Afficher la réponse

    You’ll have to be at least 18 to participate. There is no maximum age limit. However, most participants have between 18 and 30 years old. Find more information about other ways to volunteer on the Emmaüs France website.

  • Do I need specific skills to participate to the Emmaüs summer camps ? Afficher la réponse

    No, you don’t. You just need to be motivated.

  • How to unregister ? Afficher la réponse

    To unregister, please send an e-mail to inscriptions@emmaus-experience.org. 

  • Do I need to take out a civil insurance to participate? Afficher la réponse

    Yes, you do. It will help you to pay the possible costs in case of health problems.

  • What will I do after official hours ? Afficher la réponse

    We often organise activities and outings with all participants. You’ll organise your free time as you want.

  • Can I suggest new projects ? Afficher la réponse

    It is not always possible to start new projects. But you still can suggest yours. Please contact the Emmaus structure by e-mail before your arrival to talk about it.

• Can I participate in a civil service mission if I don’t live in France ? Afficher la réponse

  The french civil service is dedicated to people who live in France. For more information click here
